In the Verkhnedvinsk district, the focus is on sowing winter crops

Sowing of winter grain and leguminous crops is actively underway in all agricultural enterprises of the district. Winter crops are much more productive than spring crops, and also save farmers' time in the spring.

Farmers of OAO "Belkovshchina" are also counting on a good harvest from their fields next year.
As the chief agronomist of the farm, Ivan Lobyr, explained, the task is to sow at least 1100 hectares of winter grain and leguminous crops. And if the weather permits, it is planned to increase the area to 1500 hectares. Traditionally, these will be winter wheat, triticale, and barley. Also, 237 hectares of winter rapeseed have been sown. This year, despite the drought, it was possible to achieve a winter crop yield above the district average. However, the yields of spring crops are almost twice as low. Therefore, it is obvious that the focus should be on winter crops.
The workday for machine operators begins at 6 a.m. They are in the fields all daylight hours, leaving no earlier than 8 p.m. They work conscientiously, one might say, with special zeal. After all, it is not for nothing that they say that an autumn day feeds the year.
Experienced machine operator Alexander Misnik sows 40 hectares of winter wheat per day on an MTZ-1221 with an SZ-5.4 seeder. Seeds are delivered to him by Sergey Kishkovich. The seeder operator works almost without stopping, taking only a short break even for lunch and afternoon tea, which are brought directly to the field.
Wheat and barley seeds are sown first, and the plan for triticale will be completed later. The wide-cut seeder APP-6 will be put into operation any day now: Vladimir Amelchenko will be fully engaged in sowing winter crops. The farm is provided with its own seeds. However, they also plan to sow the Prudinkovskaya "elite" variety.
In parallel, the soil is being prepared for sowing. Sergey Zaitsev and Vladimir Amelchenko are working on plowing. Petr Beloded and Igor Zuev are engaged in cultivation.
"Although we have completed the harvesting of winter rapeseed and grains, there are still plenty of concerns," says Ivan Petrovich. "We have started harvesting spring rapeseed, part of which will be added to the feed ration – we need to ensure a 'full' wintering for the cows. We are also carrying out the third cutting of grasses. We expect to 'collect' the necessary feed units from corn as well. After completing the sowing, we will begin stubble plowing. We need to complete all field work to the maximum extent possible to meet spring 'in full readiness.'"
