The Republican Center for Hydrometeorology, Radioactive Contamination Monitoring and Environmental Management of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection has provided a weather forecast for Belarus during the extended holiday weekend.
"Thus, on the eve of the long-awaited holiday, the atmosphere outside will take on a truly winter character. Cyclonic vortices next week will swirl us in a snowy flurry, which, combined with frosty patterns, will create a truly magical mood on New Year's Eve and beyond. Now in more detail. Until the end of the current year and in the first days of January 2026, the territory of our country will continue to be under cyclonic circulation, which will cause unstable weather conditions. Atmospheric fronts moving across the territory of our country will cause precipitation in many regions of Belarus. At the same time, due to the advection of air masses from northern latitudes, the temperature background will decrease, and at night it will range from minus 2 degrees in the west to minus 13 degrees in the east, and on New Year's Eve, the air will cool to minus 16 degrees in places; daytime maximums will be between minus 1 and minus 11 degrees, only on January 2 (Friday) in the west of the country, where the influence of warmer air masses will be felt, the air will warm up to plus 2 degrees. At the same time, on December 30 (Tuesday) during the daytime in the west, and from December 31, 2025 to January 2, 2026 (Wednesday-Friday) in places across the country, the wind will strengthen with gusts of 15-20 m/s. With the decrease in temperature, snow will prevail in the expected precipitation, and there will be a high probability of ice on the roads of Belarus. Due to the threat of ice and strong gusty winds, an orange level of danger has been declared for December 30. At the same time, the combination of snowfall with gusty winds will lead to blizzards in some areas of the republic. It will get colder," the Belhydromet reported. On Tuesday, December 30, snow and wet snow will fall over most of the country. In some areas during the day, a light blizzard is possible. Ice is expected on the roads. In the daytime in the west, an increase in wind with gusts of 15-20 m/s is forecast in many areas. The air temperature at night will be 3-9 degrees below zero, and during the day - from minus 1 to minus 7 degrees. On Wednesday, December 31, snow will fall over most of the country. At night and in the morning, an increase in wind with gusts of 15-20 m/s and blizzards are forecast in places. In some sections

The air temperature during the day will be 3-10 degrees Celsiusfrom the Atlantic origin, resulting in a temperature rise to around the long-term average values (climatic norm for the first decade of January - minus 2.3 - minus 5.3 degrees), and the predicted precipitation will be in a mixed phase (snow, wet snow, with rain in the south). With temperature fluctuations, weak ice phenomena will be observed in some places," the forecasters shared.
On Saturday, January 3, at night in most of the territory, and during the day in some parts of the country, short-term snow and wet snow will occur. Ice is expected on some sections of roads, and weak ice is possible in some places. The air temperature at night will be from zero to minus 5 degrees, and during the day - from minus 3 to plus 2 degrees.
On Sunday, January 4, at night, light short-term snow is expected in some places, and during the day, snow and wet snow are expected in most of the country, with rain in the south. Ice is expected on some sections of roads, and weak ice is possible in some places during the day. The air temperature at night will be from 2 to 8 degrees below zero, and up to minus 12 degrees with clear spells. During the day, it will range from minus 6 degrees in the north to plus 2 degrees in the south.
