More than 57,000 "Family Capital" deposits have been opened in Belarus over five years
Over five years, the size of the family capital has grown by 140.2%. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, according to BelTA. The Ministry of Labor noted that the family capital program continues to be the most effective measure to stimulate fertility and allows maintaining the number of large families at the level of 120 thousand annually.
Thus, every fourth child in the country is born into a large family. In addition, to preserve the purchasing power of family capital, its size is indexed annually on a cumulative basis. The press service emphasized that over five years, the size of the family capital has grown by 140.2%. In 2021, it was Br23,737.5, and in 2025, it will be Br33,275. By the decision of the Head of State, the family capital program has been extended until the end of 2029. Also, thanks to the innovations of 2025, a permit from local authorities is no longer required for the construction of housing in apartment buildings. Previously, this was a mandatory condition.
In addition, it is allowed to use family capital early for the acquisition of a share (shares) of residential premises when shares of these premises, assigned to several family members, are already owned. This also applies to the repayment of a loan obtained through refinancing to pay off the debt under a previously concluded loan agreement that provided for the construction, reconstruction, or acquisition of housing.
The opportunity has also been provided to pay for education with family capital funds not only for the current and previous academic years but also for the upcoming one. In total, over 57 thousand "Family Capital" deposits were opened during 2021-2025. For the entire period of the program's implementation, since 2015, 150.6 thousand deposits have been opened. 70.6 thousand decisions on early disposal of family capital funds have been made, of which 80% were for housing issues, 14% for medical services, and 9% for education.
