The EAEU explained whether there is a difference between condensed milk and evaporated milk
Whether all condensed milk is condensed milk and what the difference between them is, was explained at a press conference in Moscow by representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), a BELTA correspondent reports.
As Anna Zuevskaya, Head of the Department of Technical Regulation and Standardization in the Field of Food, Chemical and Agricultural Products of the EEC, noted, the EAEU technical regulations list four types of condensed milk - skimmed milk condensed with sugar, whole milk condensed with sugar, etc. "There is no such product as 'sguschenka' there," she pointed out.
"And when we talk about the use of abbreviated names, which can be different - it can be 'sguschenka', 'sgustena' - this is a coined name. It can also be used in accordance with the technical regulations, but only in the name itself. That is, the name of the condensed milk must contain its full name. The words can be rearranged, for example, whole milk condensed with sugar, not whole with sugar milk. And then, for example, 'sguschenka' can be placed. And then we all understand that the full name is the object of the technical regulation, and this is precisely a certain condensed milk. And 'sguschenka' is a coined name that the manufacturer has assigned to its product," Anna Zuevskaya explained.
Valentin Tataritsky, Member of the Collegium (Minister) for Technical Regulation of the EEC, added that in order to understand whether it is indeed real condensed milk, the consumer needs to pay attention to the composition. "I think we have all learned to read not only the names but also the compositions. We understand what should be written there," he noted.
At the same time, the EEC Minister recalled that at one time there was a similar situation on the consumer market with cheeses, which were often passed off as "cheese product". Thanks to the amendments made to the technical regulations, buyers are no longer misled.
