Alexander Subbotin commented on the plans of the Vitebsk region to participate in the III Belarusian-Uzbek Women's Business Forum
The III Belarusian-Uzbek Women's Business Forum, to be held on September 2-3, will be a significant event in the international life not only of the Vitebsk region but of our entire country. This is the conviction of the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, who spoke with journalists ahead of the guests' arrival.
– We are expecting new contracts and the establishment of new ties to create a stronger foundation for future joint projects. Uzbekistan is one of our key partners in the world, despite the distances separating our countries. We have a very similar mentality, and a glorious Soviet past allows us to quickly find common ground and advance joint projects. For example, with the participation of the "Marko" holding company, a joint venture "Uzbekshuz" has been established in Uzbekistan, whose footwear is popular throughout Central Asia. "PO Energokomplekt," together with its Uzbek partner, is constructing a plant for the production of copper wire and small-section cable. Projects in the light industry are also planned.
There is productive inter-university cooperation. In particular, between the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology.
A large number of guests are expected, and product exhibitions will be presented – from the food industry to jewelry. The business part will include a plenary session, and seven working sections will be operational.
The signing of a large number of documents is expected on the sidelines of the forum, including at least four commercial contracts from the Vitebsk region and a memorandum of cooperation between our twin cities.
