«Простых вопросов не бывает». Сенатор провела прием граждан в Витебске

“There are no simple questions.” Senator held a reception for citizens in Vitebsk

Irina Levkovich, Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic for Economy, Budget and Finance, Deputy Chairperson of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, and Head of the Main Department of Trade and Services of the Regional Executive Committee, held a personal reception of citizens, including individual entrepreneurs and representatives of legal entities.

The essence of the appeal, with a story that has been ongoing since 2017, concerns the delivery of a low-quality log house for a dacha plot within the city limits to a resident of Vitebsk. It was manufactured by an individual entrepreneur from the Mogilev region. The story has already been resolved in court. And, according to the court's decision, the truth is on the applicant's side. However, to date, she is not satisfied with the actions of the enforcement authorities in the Mogilev region. According to the applicant, the "unscrupulous" business entity that provided such a disservice to the consumer has already disposed of all its property, to the point of divorcing his wife, who then filed for alimony. The log house is no longer the property of the Vitebsk resident; it simply stands on her land, and she is its custodian. But she has not yet managed to get her money back. The appeal remains under the senator's control, as it is necessary to understand why the consumer protection mechanism failed: whether it is the result of the actions of a dishonest entrepreneur striving at all costs not to reimburse funds, or whether law enforcement officers are not working effectively.

… Each has their own truth in another difficult story related to the non-renewal of the lease for commercial premises in the center of Vitebsk. Each party has documents, a court hearing has already taken place, and there is no turning back. Irina Levkovich expresses her wish to the landlord to avoid going to court in the future and to try to find some compromise solutions.

– Having received the response from the Vitebsk City Executive Committee to my inquiry, I considered it necessary to try to resolve this appeal again, having heard both sides, – the senator noted. – Legally, the City Executive Committee is right, but, in my opinion, in the future, before proceeding to court proceedings, it is necessary to seek a reasonable compromise with both the owner and, accordingly, with the staff.

Issues with many "knots" are brought to the people's elected representatives. And resolving them is not an easy task, especially when the law has already spoken.
