This was discussed at a meeting of the regional executive committee, which addressed the socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region for the first quarter of 2025 and improving the efficiency of organizations.
In a conversation with journalists, the Deputy Chairperson of the Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina, noted that, given the sufficiently high base for all parameters of the same period last year, the first quarter of 2025 was handled with dignity. Industrial production growth of 102.7% was ensured (excluding petroleum products due to the current market situation), retail trade and public catering turnover, investment in fixed assets, and passenger and freight turnover were increased. The largest growth was observed in high-tech sectors – pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, and many others. All targets were met by the construction industry, including housing commissioning. The agricultural complex slightly missed some indicators. However, the lag will be eliminated by the end of May.
Currently, Vitebsk region is one of the few regions meeting the export target to the Russian Federation. In general, by the end of the first half of the year, it is planned to ensure a growth rate of foreign supplies at the level of 105%.
94 enterprises are producing import-substituting products, and eleven are launching new projects.
Work is actively underway within the framework of the "Regional Initiative": 4 projects have already been submitted, and another 15 are under consideration.
