Safe Easter
On April 20, Orthodox Christians will celebrate one of the main holidays – Bright Resurrection of Christ (Easter). Traditionally, solemn religious events are held on this day, in which a large number of people participate.
When visiting a church during divine services, remember that every parishioner is obliged to observe fire safety rules to prevent fires in the church:
– be careful when lighting candles from candle holders, roll up your sleeves;
– hold a piece of paper or a handkerchief under the candle so that hot wax does not get on your skin, and you do not instinctively jerk your hand and drop a burning candle on your clothes;
– tie your headscarves tightly and tuck away your hair, reducing the risk of candle flame getting on them when you bow your head;
– try to maintain a safe distance from other parishioners;
– in case of clothing catching fire, quickly take it off, try to extinguish it with a fire extinguisher or cover it with a dense material;
– study the layout of the prayer hall and the church building in general to know the evacuation routes;
– in case of fire alarm activation and fire notification, do not panic, leave the prayer hall quickly, but without causing panic or a stampede.
– if the room is filled with smoke or there is no lighting, try to go to the exit by holding onto the walls. Breathe through a handkerchief or the sleeve of your clothes; lead children in front of you, holding them by the shoulders.
When you get home, place lit candles in non-combustible stands away from flammable objects.
In case of fire or other emergency, call 101 or 112 immediately.
