В Городокском районе перезахоронили останки пяти воинов-освободителей

The remains of five liberator soldiers were reburied in the Horadok district

Dmitry Demidov, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, visited the Gorodok district to honor the memory of the liberator soldiers, whose remains were found by search teams, together with local residents.

A solemn reburial ceremony took place at the memorial complex in the village of Kholomerie. Five servicemen who died during the Great Patriotic War found their final resting place there. Their remains were discovered in August by representatives of the 52nd Separate Specialized Search Battalion and the "Batskaushchyna" search group, who were conducting operations in the Gorodok district near the village of Laptevka, Virovlyansky rural council. Unfortunately, the names of the fallen could not be identified.

Representatives of regional and district authorities, work collectives, search teams, and youth participated in the event in Kholomerie.

— More than 80 years have passed since the liberation of the Vitebsk region from the Nazi invaders, but every year, during search operations at the sites of hostilities, the remains of Red Army soldiers who gave their lives for the liberation of the Motherland are discovered. Thanks to their heroic deeds, we live today in a free country under a peaceful sky, raise children, and work for the benefit of Belarus. It is our universal and Christian duty to properly commit the remains of the soldiers to the earth, — said Dmitry Demidov. — A large number of people are involved in search activities, from volunteers to relevant units of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus and other law enforcement agencies. Extensive work is also carried out with archival documents. The task is not only to preserve the memory of our heroic ancestors but also to pass on this respect and gratitude to the younger generations. Only in this way can a new war be prevented.
