A public garden was opened in Shumilino in honor of the district's 100th anniversary
Shumilino District celebrates its 100th anniversary – a land with a rich history, which has given many people famous throughout the country.
Among them are Mikhail Zimyanin (diplomat and Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU), Alexander Dubko (Hero of Belarus, former Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee), representatives of the famous Obel underground Eufrosinia Zenkova and Zinaida Portnova, who were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and the famous biathlete Anna Sola.
- Shumilino land has always been a fertile region. In recent times, the region has been developing, new facilities are appearing. This land is becoming more beautiful and comfortable, - noted the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin.
Congratulating his fellow countrymen on the anniversary, the Chairman of the Shumilino District Executive Committee Sergey Galynchik noted that the history of the region includes such significant events as the granting of Magdeburg Law to the town of Sirotino in the 18th century, the official approval of the coat of arms of the Grebnitsky family (which is now the coat of arms of Shumilino District), the construction of a section of the Riga-Oryol railway and the erection of one of the oldest railway stations in Belarus. However, the foundation of Belarusian statehood was laid in the last 100 years, and current generations are part of it. Many remarkable people have inscribed their names in the annals of Shumilino District, glorifying the region with feats on the battlefield and their labor. Sergey Galynchik emphasized that life moves forward and the best years are undoubtedly ahead.
- By preserving our historical heritage, maintaining the best traditions, cultural and spiritual values, all together, by uniting our efforts, we will solve many important tasks, and we will also certainly achieve our set goals, - expressed the confidence of the head of the region.
A public garden in honor of the 100th anniversary of Shumilino District was opened in a festive atmosphere. An exhibition "Through the Years of Memory and Fate" is presented in the local history museum. Thematic platforms organized by the district culture center, the House of Crafts, the library, the newspaper "Hero of Labor", the BRSM district committee, and the education department of the district executive committee were operating.
The celebrations will conclude with a festive fireworks display.
Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, the motor rallies "100 Years of Creation – Jubilee Shumilino Region" will take place.
