Veterinarian Anastasia Serebro from Beshenkovichi: "It's always good to be home"
While young people are heading to big cities in search of happiness, veterinarian Anastasia Serebro from Beshenkovichi returned to her hometown after graduating from the Vitebsk Veterinary Academy's Agricultural College. Every day, the young woman rushes to work with a smile and has no plans to leave. What's the secret?
– The thing is, home is always the best place to be, – Anastasia Serebro is convinced. – I've loved animals since childhood and know how to get along with them, so choosing a profession was a quick decision. Besides, a competent veterinarian is essential in agriculture.
Indeed, the rural "Aibolit" (a reference to a kind doctor in Russian literature) is always respected. Local residents trust her implicitly: she can accurately determine why the milk quality of cows has deteriorated.
– I won't lie, a veterinarian's job is not easy. The working hours are irregular. Animals, like humans, can get sick at any time. The peak hours are in the evening when herds return from pasture, – says Anastasia.
To protect themselves from anthrax and rabies, veterinarians regularly receive necessary vaccinations; without them, they are not allowed to work. And to prevent animals from injuring veterinarians, simple rules must be followed: do not approach them suddenly; do not shout; establish eye contact and speak gently.
According to Anastasia, veterinary medicine is in some aspects more complex than human medicine, as animals cannot say what is bothering them. Conclusions can be drawn based on observations and the owners' accounts, who often panic and cannot clearly explain what has alarmed them about their pet's behavior.
– The productivity of farm animals is the main indicator of their health. A sick cow will produce less milk, or its quality will deteriorate, – explains the interlocutor. – It is very important to pay attention to the behavior and condition of the pet: cats and dogs may show drowsiness, their coat loses its shine, and cows, when something hurts them, can even cry.
The young specialist regrets that people do not always consult a veterinarian in time, relying on advice from the internet and pet store employees who do not have the appropriate education. As a result, the animal is still brought to the veterinary station, having lost precious time and spent a lot of money. Anastasia also reminds that proper pet care and necessary vaccinations can help avoid many problems.
In addition to her work, the young woman leads an active social life. She enjoys singing, dancing, and participating in theatrical productions. Last year, she won a republican professional skills competition, and this spring, she visited Sochi and Volgograd as part of the World Youth Festival as a member of the regional delegation.
Anastasia is still impressed by this trip. She remembers the Sirius educational center in Sochi, spectacular sports shows, and various events where she met opinion leaders and pop stars in person.
– I believe that science and kindness will save the world, make it humane and happy, – summarizes Anastasia Serebro.
