What new projects will "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" surprise with?
From July 11 to 14, the main events of the XXXIII International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar" will be held in Vitebsk. The vibrant cultural celebration, as always, promises not only meetings with beloved performers but also pleasant surprises. Gleb Lapitsky, Director of the "Vitebsk" Cultural Center and Head of the "Slavianski Bazaar" International Festival of Arts, said:
— When compiling the forum's program, we considered that it should remain fashionable and modern, while preserving its core – its soul. In addition to traditional events, spectators will be able to appreciate the new project "Guests from the Future," which will bring together about 3,000 people: children, youth, bloggers, and TikTokers. The name is spot on, because children are the future of "Slavianski Bazaar."
Today, a cherished dream of the children's competition participants will come true: all of them will be given the opportunity to perform on the stage of the Summer Amphitheatre. Previously, only Grand Prix winners performed there.
Good news also comes in the form of rock's return to the Summer Amphitheatre. The focus is on the best world hits. During the grand rock panorama, the symphony orchestra of the National State Television and Radio Company will perform for the first time. In addition to the Belarusian band SkyNet, a special guest will take the stage – the "Gorshenev" project by musician Alexey Gorshenev, the brother of the leader of the band "Korol i Shut". Furthermore, an official tribute band of the Scorpions will be brought from Russia, demonstrating that rock knows no borders.
The grand opening of "Slavianski Bazaar" (by the way, tickets for this concert are already sold out) will take place on July 11. The next day, the events of the Union State Day will officially commence. The Summer Amphitheatre will host the gala concert "Union State Invites...", bringing together leading artists from Belarus and Russia on one stage.
The program of the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic will be jazz-themed. For the first time during the festival, jazz will be performed on the organ accompanied by percussion instruments. A new tradition will also be established at this year's festival – sister festivals, as shared by Gleb Lapitsky:
— Three years ago, the International Music Festival Kavkaz Music Fest was launched in Nalchik. We became such good friends with its organizers that we decided to invite this ethnic forum to Vitebsk.
One of the most beloved and anticipated projects by the audience – "Golden Hit" – will take place in the Summer Amphitheatre on the night of July 12-13. The retro party will be set in motion by "Samotsvety", Irina Zabiaka (band "Chili"), "Vintazh", "Diskomafia", "Virus", "Sultan Uragan", Ilona Bronevitskaya, Baccara (Spain), DoReDos (Moldova). The special guest is Thomas Nevergreen (Denmark).
At the competition for young pop singers, vocalists will perform Slavic hits together with the Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus. The second part will feature a long-time friend of the festival – the art group "Turetsky Choir".
There will also be a "Chanson" concert, KVN games, and for those who wish to extend the celebration until dawn, a debut dance floor with "Dushevnoe Radio" will be offered in front of the "Vitebsk" concert hall. In addition to stars, a band that wins the festival's new competition – cover bands – will also have the opportunity to perform here. Applications for this competition from Belarusian and Russian contestants have been received without delay.
The program of the updated concertThe program of the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall is rich. It features many solo performances: Oleg Gazmanov, Dmitry Malikov, Stas Piekha, Sergey Lazarev, Lyubov Uspenskaya, Vladimir Presnyakov Jr., Victoria Aleshko, Yaroslav Sumishevsky, Ani Lorak. The international dance project Dream Dance Fest will be a bright overture to the festival events in the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall.
The theater program is for every taste. It includes productions by the Russian Mayakovsky Theatre, "Na Vasilyevskom" Theatre, "Theater on the South-West", as well as Kupala Theatre and Kolas Theatre. An important premiere will take place at the National Academic Drama Theatre named after Yakub Kolas. GITIS Professor Alexander Barmak will bring Shakespeare's "Hamlet" in Belarusian to Vitebsk. The city on the Dvina River also anticipates the musical and poetic show "Lyudmila Zykina. Confession. 17 Years of Secrets," dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the great Russian singer.
For the convenience of participants and guests, the festival will utilize the maximum number of venues, added Gleb Lapitsky:
— The "Slavyansky Blagovest" choral music festival will be held for the fifth time in the Holy Assumption Cathedral. The park named after the Soviet Army in Mazurino will host the festival of car audio and Holi colors. Of course, the audience favorites, the street art festival "Na Semi Vetrakh" and "Kukolny Kvartal" (Puppet Quarter), will remain. As part of the Union State Days, the open-air event "Gulyay Narod" will be held. This year, not only border regions but also guests from the Leningrad Region have been invited.
The educational vector of "Slavyansky Bazaar" is also expanding. The theater and vocal laboratory will be complemented by an instrumental one. It will be implemented in conjunction with the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music at the Vitebsk Music College named after I. I. Sollertinsky and will be based on two national folk instruments – the Russian balalaika and the Belarusian domra.
