In 2023, 70% of residents of the Vitebsk region underwent a medical examination

The results of the implementation of the Head of State's decree on improving the efficiency of the healthcare system, and the measures taken to improve the organization of medical care for the region's population, including those living in rural areas, were considered at a meeting of the presidium of the 29th convocation regional Council of Deputies.

– Control over the implementation of the decree was assigned by the President to various departments, as well as to the country's parliamentary corps at all levels, – noted the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov. – We are interested in the healthcare system in all regions working stably and efficiently, as it concerns people's health. The Belarusian leader clearly stated that "high-quality medical care should be provided, including to residents of remote areas." Their health and lives are the most important value for the state.

Mikhail Vishnevetsky, Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee, in his speech focused on the fact that a comprehensive set of measures is being implemented in the region for staffing the healthcare system to meet full demand, with particular attention paid to providing housing for medical workers. Primary healthcare has received priority development: 519 general practitioners and 490 physician assistants work in the region. The coverage of the population by general practitioners is 75.3%.

Medical examinations continue: in 2023, 70% of the population underwent them. Monitoring of this process is carried out weekly.

All state social standards in healthcare in the Vitebsk region are being met, assured Mikhail Vishnevetsky. Work in each of these areas continues – to improve the quality and accessibility of medical care.

When considering the issue, an assessment was made of the measures taken, their effectiveness, and the achieved results were analyzed.

– The situation in this area has improved thanks to the joint work of the healthcare system and local authorities, – summarized Dmitry Demidov. – It is controlled and manageable. But there are still many areas for further effort. It is necessary not only to maintain what has been achieved but also to move forward.
