The "Cornflower Land" project will unite over 300 tourist sites in the Vitebsk region

The "Vasilkovy Krai" (Cornflower Land) project, being implemented in the Vitebsk region, will unite over 300 key tourist sites in the region. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

"Currently, the project is being implemented in twelve districts of the region, where about 150 cornflowers with QR codes are placed, meaning on 150 tourist sites. When the 'Vasilkovy Krai' initiative extends to the entire region, it will cover more than 300 sites," the department explained. "Additionally, within this project, we aim to develop a tourist brand, associating it with the cornflower, as we have been recognized at international exhibitions for years by the cornflowers attached to our delegates' clothing (such elements are a must in our delegation's style). We are promoting this style. It's a distinctive feature of the Vitebsk region."

Tourists have already appreciated the convenience of using cornflowers with QR codes, which, when scanned, provide information about the site and its history. The fact is that a person only needs to download the corresponding reading application. Users can scan and read the information without an internet connection. This format is particularly popular among individual travelers.

Cornflower guides will soon be developed and deployed in the districts that did not participate in the pilot project "Vasilkovy Krai," the implementation period of which is 2021-2023. "Placing the cornflowers is not a problem. The issue is to craft the text competently. It should not be statistics, but artistically presented information that is interesting to the tourist. They won't stand and scroll. It should be: minimum text - maximum information. We will need to assist the districts in developing such information," noted the regional Department of Sports and Tourism.
