Academy, coworking, technologies of the future: a new IT center has opened in Vitebsk

Those interested will be able to learn programming languages and technologies at the new IT center, which opened on January 30 at the "Law and Order" technopark in Vitebsk.

In collaboration with Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov (VSU), a branch of the Department of Mathematics and Information Technologies will be opened on these premises. Its main purpose is to conduct practical training at the site of specialists' training for the creation of information products. Students will be able to study without interrupting their work, and local IT companies will be able to train qualified personnel for themselves. As explained by the university's rector, Valentina Bogatyreva, most students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technologies already have a place of employment by their third year.

"One of the new specialties at the university is 'IT Medicine', another very interesting specialty is 'Information Technology Software', a classic in this field. Therefore, the creation of a department branch is an opportunity for practice-oriented specialist training. The university already has seven such laboratories with residents of the Hi-Tech Park and more than 50 department branches in total across all specialties. Thus, befriending the technopark is a great prospect for us, including in the area of joint developments with the People's Republic of China (about 1,000 students from China study at the university. - BELTA note)," the rector emphasized. - Today, our students and teachers are preparing many interesting projects. Among the most interesting are seven projects in the field of medicine, many of which have already passed or are undergoing certification for copyright certificates."

"The opening of the IT center in the incubator technopark 'Law and Order' is dictated by life itself. We need to move forward, develop innovations, including in the IT sector, new software for the development of the real sector of the economy. First of all, we expect a concentration of talented people from the IT industry here and the creation of new software products. For this, we have partners - our universities, entrepreneurship support centers, and enterprises interested in creating new jobs to implement innovations in the real sector of the economy," added the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina.

Chinese partners will provide the IT center with a large scope of work. The initial investment volume, as specified by Mikhail Keyzerov, is $2 million. Specialists will create import-substituting products – developing a Chinese Windows to replace the American one. Anyone will be able to come to the IT center at the idea stage, and later start their own business. The state will offer support: provide equipped premises, tax incentives, and

work. All that is required from participants is desire, responsibility, and engagement.
