Natalia Kochanova: The XI Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in the Vitebsk region should be held in a coordinated, organized, and effective manner
It is very important to do everything possible to ensure that the XI Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia is held in a coordinated and organized manner.
But the most important thing is that there is a result, which consists not only in signing contracts and agreements, not only in the economic component, but also in terms of interregional cooperation between our countries, and the implementation of agreements provided for by the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State and Union programs. This was reported to journalists by the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova, following the meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the XI Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which took place today, January 25, in the upper house of the Belarusian Parliament.
Our country began preparations for the XI Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia immediately after the completion of the previous X Forum of Regions, Natalya Kochanova reported:
– Because we understand how significant this event is for our countries – in terms of regional cooperation between our countries, economic interaction, and the development of the Union State. The first meeting was held directly in the Vitebsk region: I traveled and held a meeting in Vitebsk, then in Polotsk. Because for the first time we are holding the Forum of Regions in several cities of our country. We involved not only Vitebsk, but also the cities of Novopolotsk and Polotsk, because we want to showcase not only the economic component within the framework of the forum, but also to emphasize history and culture, our national traditions, and the historical community of our countries. As you know, the city of Novopolotsk was built in Soviet times by specialists, including those from Russia, who came to build the oil refinery.
Noting that all this should arouse the interest of the numerous guests of the forum, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic at the same time remarked:
– This also imposes a special responsibility on how we should prepare for this important event. The Forums of the Regions of Belarus and Russia are held with the direct participation of the presidents of our countries, Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, therefore it is very important for us to do everything to ensure that the event proceeds smoothly and in an organized manner. But the most important thing is that there is a result, which consists not only in the signing of contracts and agreements, not only in the economic component, but also in terms of interregional cooperation between our countries, the implementation of agreements provided for by the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State, and union programs.
Natalia Kochanova also added:
– Today we heard that the leadership of the Vitebsk region is proposing quite a lot of events and exhibitions within the framework of the forum, where we can showcase the achievements in the innovative development of our country, the Russian Federation, and our joint work in science, training, and education.
We remind you that the XI Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia will be held in the summer of this year in the cities of Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk. Active preparations for this most important event are currently underway in all three cities. As noted at the meeting of the organizing committee, this year the forum's theme is proposed as interregional cooperation in building the innovative economy of the Union State.
