New buses and trams will arrive in the Vitebsk region

The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, in conjunction with OJSC "Vitebskoblautotrans", is undertaking the procurement of vehicles for the cities of the Vitebsk region. The plan is to purchase 12 MAZ-216 buses of increased capacity and 26 MAZ-257 buses, as well as 2 BKM T811 tram cars.

– The MAZ-257 suburban variant buses will be delivered to almost all districts of the region, – informed Viktor Kozhukh. – Incidentally, similar buses (10 units) were acquired for Vitebsk in the spring of 2023; they are operating on regular routes of the regional center and the Vitebsk district. The new MAZ-216 are planned for use in Vitebsk. They will replace worn-out MAZ-105 articulated buses. Such buses are currently used on regular passenger routes in the Vitebsk region only in Novopolotsk. The new trams will also operate in the regional center.

As the interlocutor added, the mentioned buses and trams are expected to be delivered to the Vitebsk region within the year.
