A scientific and educational cluster has appeared in Vitebsk
The agreement on the creation of the "Medicine and Pharmaceuticals – Innovative Projects" cluster was signed between Vitebsk State Medical University, the Regional Marketing Center, Vitebsk State University, Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, Vitebsk State Technological University, Polotsk State University, the "Law and Order" Small Business Incubator, Vitebsk Pharmacy Enterprise, and VitVar LLC. VSMU is the coordinating organization of the cluster.
On December 4, the heads of educational institutions and enterprises signed the agreement on the creation of the new association. The ceremony was attended by Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, and Viktor Glushin, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee.
– The cluster is being created with the support of the Regional Executive Committee and the Ministry of Health of Belarus, – emphasized Vyacheslav Durnov during the event. – It is very important for the Vitebsk region that comprehensive scientific projects aimed at attracting investments and new technologies, and developing new educational programs that meet the needs of the modern labor market are implemented. We hope that the unification of efforts within the cluster will bring the development of medicine, pharmaceuticals, veterinary production, information technologies, business processes, and their application in various sectors of the economy to a new level. The cluster's activities will be aimed at stimulating innovative entrepreneurship and commercializing scientific developments, supporting startups and small businesses. It is of great importance that within the framework of the cluster, the opportunities for realizing the potential of young scientists and specialists will be expanded, and their skills and competencies will be improved. Today, 9 organizations are signing the agreement, but in the future, we expect industrial enterprises, research centers, laboratories, and marketing organizations from Belarus, as well as from near and far abroad, to join it. I am confident that the scientific and educational cluster will become a key element of the innovation system of the Vitebsk region and will contribute to its economic development and increased competitiveness. We are taking a serious first step, and there will be a long road ahead. For this, we have the potential, technologies developed in the Vitebsk region, and strong enterprises in the field of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
VSMU Rector Alexey Chukanov noted that they had been moving towards this significant event for a long time, possessing enormous scientific and industrial potential.
– The объединение of efforts will allow us to achieve the desired result faster and more effectively, – said the VSMU Rector. – And this is not only about the production of certain medicines and drugs, but also about the transformation of scientific ideas into practical application in general. I am confident that soon everyone interested in the scientific support of their developments and the implementation of ideas into production will join us. I congratulate all of us on this first step!
