The development of the information space of the Vitebsk region was discussed at a meeting of the regional executive committee.

– We are witnessing, perhaps, the most fierce battles for the minds of our youth and for our future, – noted the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, opening the meeting. – Therefore, it is important to discuss how we will build our work, what specific steps we will take in the near future to maximize the effectiveness of our presence in the information space of the region and the country.

– The media of the Vitebsk region are not limited today to traditional print versions, television and radio broadcasting. It is also a presence in internet communities, on various platforms, and we see that information is important and necessary for our population, – said Marina Novitskaya, Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, in a conversation with journalists. – And we must teach people to understand and verify the information they receive every day. Today, we will have a serious conversation with both the journalistic community and representatives of the authorities in order to form a kind of ecosystem that will work organically in our Vitebsk region.

The most important task for all mass media, believes Marina Novitskaya, is to convey to people the truthful picture of what is happening in our region, in the country and abroad. It is necessary to do this in a timely manner, as the lifespan of news is very limited. But in addition to purely news feeds, it is very important to develop author's journalism and analytics, thanks to which a person should understand what facts lie behind a particular event.

– A journalist must be able to analyze them and convey the most important things to our youth, – believes Marina Novitskaya. – We are obliged to teach young people to read and verify the facts they see every day in their news feeds, and to show the depth of what is happening in our region and in our republic.
