From Moscow to Murmansk: about 87% of Vitebsk carpets are exported to regions of Russia

Over the 10 months of this year, export deliveries of Vitebsk carpets in natural terms increased by 16.7% compared to the same period last year.

This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Elena Shchukina, Deputy General Director of Vitebsk Carpets OJSC.

"Our enterprise is export-oriented. Over 10 months, 12.9 million square meters of carpets and carpet products were supplied to countries of near and far abroad. The share of exports in the volume of shipped products amounted to 87.4%. The export amount for January-October was $33 million. The geography of supplies is quite extensive. We ship 86.3% of products to the Russian Federation. In addition, we supply our carpets to Kyrgyzstan (7.5%), Kazakhstan (3.3%), Moldova (1.1%), as well as Armenia, Romania, Mongolia, Hungary," noted the Deputy General Director of the enterprise.

She added that Vitebsk carpets are in demand in Russia not only in the border regions but also in the Far East, and even in the harsh Murmansk. "Due to their scale, carpet products are presented in a wide variety of options in this market. However, certain trends in the use of color schemes and patterns can be observed in different regions. In general, abstract patterns prevail in the carpet products we produce for supply to Russia. They are characterized by delicate beige and gray tones, adding comfort and coziness to interiors. These colors are especially popular in modern design and harmoniously combine with various styles. The eastern regions of Russia present their unique traditional palette. Here, carpets are distinguished by bright red, blue, and green colors. These shades add energy and vibrancy to interiors, maintaining a connection with the region's rich cultural history," said Elena Shchukina.
