Vitebsk region Day will be held at the international import expo in Shanghai

A thematic day of the Vitebsk region will be held during the 6th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, scheduled for November 5-10. This was reported by the Committee for Economy of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The Vitebsk region will present its export and investment potential at the exhibition in the PRC. The region's thematic day is scheduled for November 7 in the national pavilion of Belarus. Among the invited guests will be representatives of the provinces of Jiangxi, Heilongjiang, Guizhou, and Shandong, with which the Belarusian northern region has signed agreements and memorandums of cooperation. The parties maintain contacts in science, technology, trade, education, healthcare, sports, and other fields.

More than a dozen enterprises from the Vitebsk region will participate in the import expo. The Vitebsk Meat and Dairy Products concern, Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory, Polotsk Dairy Plant, Lepel Dairy Plant branch of Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant, Vitba Confectionery Factory, Naftan and Polotsk-Steklovolokno plants, and Orsha Linen Mill plan to visit Shanghai. Ruzexpedition and the administration of the Vitebsk Free Economic Zone are expected to participate.

Some companies will hold separate presentations. Guests will be offered to taste meat and dairy products, confectionery, and dry breakfasts. Orsha Linen Mill, Naftan and Polotsk-Steklovolokno plants, and the logistics company Ruzexpedition will present their developments and technologies. The Vitebsk Free Economic Zone and the Jiangxi Province Special Economic Zone plan to sign a memorandum of cooperation on the sidelines of the 6th China International Import Expo. A B2B meeting will be held in the negotiation area. Some enterprises will sign program documents.

For producers in the Vitebsk region, the Chinese market is becoming increasingly promising. Export growth to the PRC regions is gaining momentum: compared to 8 months of 2022, supplies increased 1.4 times, and compared to 2018, more than 5 times, the committee noted. Food products and agricultural raw materials are in particular demand. This includes poultry meat, whey, breakfast cereals, confectionery, and flax fiber. Among other things, additives for lubricating oils, woodworking products, fiberglass, fittings, and linen fabrics produced in the northern region of Belarus are also in demand in China.
