Creativity of young journalists. About 40 works will be defended at the regional "Press-code" in Vitebsk

About 40 works will be presented at the regional stage of the republican competition of young journalists "Press-code" in Vitebsk. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the BRSM.

Materials for the competition were sent by young people aged 16 to 31 from different parts of the northern region. The largest number of works came from participants from Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Orsha.

"This season, we received almost twice as many applications as last year - 38. The competition has become larger in scale, and the youth are more active. And the quality of the works has improved, as we can see from the quality of informational materials, articles, photographs, and videos: it's a completely different presentation of material, a more complex choice of topics," explained the regional committee of the BRSM.

The video works block became the most popular among the participants. Young people from the Vitebsk region talked about memorable places in their country, their small homeland, their place of residence, famous people of the region, and more.

"Press-code" is held in several nominations. Among print media - "Best Author's Materials" (reportage, special project on patriotic themes), "Best Caricature on the Most Acute Social Issues," "Best Photo Reportage." Young representatives of electronic media and Internet resources compete for victory in the nominations "Best Video Story about Memorable Places in Belarus, Famous People, Significant Events," "Best Video Blog," "Best Cinematography," "Best Project in New Media." The competition is designed to nurture a new generation of journalists and bloggers, to help reveal and develop their creative potential. The project contributes to their professional development, the formation of a critically thinking, media-literate personality.

On September 27, participants will have to present their works and answer questions from experts. The defense will start at 12:00 PM at the Vitebsk Region Media Center.

"Young people from the Vitebsk region have great potential, as our youth are no less creative and cool than in other regions. There are many interesting photographs and videos, articles, and ideas themselves," noted the regional committee. "The most important thing is that young people have an interest, a desire to develop and showcase themselves in various fields."

The works will be evaluated by an expert panel of the regional stage of "Press-code," which includes representatives of the regional executive committee, the regional committee of the BRSM, media outlets, and bloggers.
