High-tech joint replacement surgeries have become more accessible at Vitebsk Regional Hospital

The 2nd Traumatology Department has opened at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. The new conditions will allow the specialists of the VRCH to reach a higher level of trauma and orthopedic care, which, in turn, will help significantly advance the implementation of the Head of State's directives on reducing waiting times for high-tech surgical interventions and diagnostic studies, including large joint replacement surgeries.

The opening ceremony was attended by Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, and Lyudmila Kovalyova, Deputy Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee.

– The work of a doctor is not easy, so the conditions in which he works, and his mood, will be felt first and foremost by the patient, – noted Vyacheslav Durnov. – Therefore, great attention is paid to equipping the healthcare institution with modern equipment and creating comfortable conditions for everyone – both staff and patients. New operating rooms will allow for faster surgical interventions and reduce waiting queues. This is the beginning of the process of transforming the regional hospital into a major center for providing care to people. The regional budget also contributes to such a positive process, and the hospital management knows where to move forward, particularly towards significant changes such as the construction of a new building for the VRCH.

The new department is designed for 30 beds and includes both standard and enhanced comfort wards.

By the start of the new department's operation, the operating room has been renovated and equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment equipment and instruments. Orthopedic tables have been purchased. The department also has an arthroscopic system, an image intensifier, endoscopic equipment, sets of instruments and implants for intramedullary osteosynthesis with locking, installation tools for hip and knee joint replacement, and other equipment. Functional medical beds have been installed in the wards.

In parallel with the renovation work in traumatology, other departments of the hospital are also being modernized: the cardiac surgery operating room has been renovated and retrofitted, and the admission department has been updated.
