Over 700 new jobs will be created in the Vitebsk region
Over 700 new jobs will be created in the Vitebsk region as part of the implementation of investment projects under the head of state's directive "One District - One Project". This was reported to BelTA by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee.
The directive stipulates that each district will create and implement at least one industrial investment project with 20 or more employees. There are 24 such projects being implemented in the Vitebsk region. The total investment volume is Br438.2 million, with Br144.1 million
Food processing, woodworking, metallurgy, chemical production, and mechanical engineering are the main sectors where projects are being implemented. For example, an increase in the production of deep-processed agricultural raw materials is planned at enterprises in Ushachi, Chashniki, and Sharkovshchina districts. The "Ushachi" branch of ZAO "Vitebskagroproduct" is modernizing the production of protein-vitamin supplements. The establishment of a fish processing and production plant by OOO "Lukomlsky Cannery" is envisaged in Chashniki district, and in Sharkovshchina district, production facilities for fruit and vegetable processing by OOO "Organic Products" and dairy production by OAO "Verkhnedzvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory" are planned.
In Tolochin district, a limited liability company is organizing the production of cross-laminated timber panels. An enterprise with a similar legal form in Glubokoe district is establishing a plant for the production of oils, lubricants, and special fluids.
Investors in such projects receive comprehensive support. They can count on assistance in selecting land plots and property, and in working with banks to obtain preferential credit funds. A number of preferences under the Decree of the President "On Creating Additional Conditions for Investment in the Republic of Belarus" are also provided through investment agreements. For example, granting land plots without auction, full VAT deduction on the acquisition of goods (works, services), exemption from import customs duties and value added tax on the import of technological equipment, components, and spare parts into Belarus, and more.
"A similar list has already been compiled for 2024. It is proposed to include 28 projects, including 13 carried over from the current year and 15 new ones. The investment volume for next year will be approximately Br237.6 million. The implementation of investment projects within this initiative makes a significant contribution to the development of the districts and the region as a whole, allowing for the attraction of investments in the creation of new enterprises and production facilities, expanding the range of manufactured products, including import-substituting and export-oriented ones, and creating new jobs," the committee emphasized.
