Electric houses, apartments for large families and military personnel: Vitebsk told how housing is being built in the region

In January-June, 130 thousand sq.m of housing were commissioned in the Vitebsk region. This was announced at a meeting of the regional executive committee by the Chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Construction of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexey Geroev, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"In the first half of the year, 130 thousand sq.m of total residential area were commissioned in the northern region, which amounted to 42.8% of the established annual plan. This is 9.1% higher than the figure for the same period in 2022. 31.5 thousand sq.m of housing were commissioned with state support. The share of housing built by individual developers was 59.2% of all commissioned housing, or 77.4 thousand sq.m. As of July 1, construction of 25 apartment buildings is underway in the region, and 10 of them have already been commissioned," noted Alexey Geroev.

Special attention is paid in the Vitebsk region to citizens in the category of those in need of improved housing conditions, including large families. "In six months, 294 large families were provided with their own housing, which is 43.2% of the annual plan. In total, this year according to the plan, we are to provide housing for 680 large families. Another 388 families in this category are also directed towards improving housing conditions," said the Chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Construction.

Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin focused on the construction of rental housing for military personnel and persons equated to them. In some cities of the region, new buildings with apartments intended for this category of citizens are being built with delays, so work in this direction should be intensified.

Alexey Geroev said that in the first half of the year, over 23 thousand sq.m of housing were commissioned in the region, where electricity is used for heating, cooking, and water heating. "In 2022, 3 electric houses with a total area of 6.4 thousand sq.m were commissioned in the region. They were built in Beshenkovichi, Liozno, and Tolochin. By the end of this year, it is planned to commission 4 more electric houses in Vitebsk and one in Postavy," he informed.

The Chairman of the Regional Committee noted that in the future, urban development should include the construction of microdistricts with electric houses, and such are already planned in Vitebsk and Postavy.
