Approaches to providing enterprises with skilled labor were discussed at the regional council on labor and social issues in Vitebsk
The number of people employed in the region's economy in January-May of this year was 460.4 thousand people, a decrease of 7.1 thousand people, or 1.5 percent, compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, the number of vacancies declared by employers increased by more than 4 thousand to 13,730, with almost 64 percent of them being for blue-collar professions. A shortage of personnel is observed in all sectors of the economy.
Given the current trends, a comprehensive approach to solving problems in the labor market is necessary. This issue was discussed at a meeting of the regional council for labor and social issues, chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina.
Ensuring enterprises and organizations with qualified personnel, retaining young specialists in their first jobs, and preventing staff turnover are issues addressed by vocational education institutions, employment services, trade unions, and employers themselves.
Measures to help overcome the personnel shortage include updating training requests in the "State Order and Acceptance" Automated System, forming admission quotas for educational institutions, concluding targeted contracts, retraining personnel, providing financial incentives for young specialists, and offering rental housing and dormitories.
