The Grand Prix of the children's competition "Vitebsk" was awarded to Kazakh performer Sherkhan Arystan

Young performer from Kazakhstan Sherkhan Arystan won the Grand Prix of the XXI International Children's Music Competition "Vitebsk".

Sherkhan Arystan received the award from the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the opening ceremony of the XXXII International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk".

The competition jury awarded the 12-year-old Sherkhan Arystan the maximum score on both days – 70 points each. As a result, he surpassed all his rivals and received 140 points. On the first day, he performed the song Ama, Credi e Vai ("Love, Believe and Go") by Andrea Bocelli, David Foster, and Amy Foster. The young performer showcased powerful vocals and captivated the audience and the jury. Sherkhan admitted that he dreams of becoming a pop star so that everyone in his native Kazakhstan knows him, from young to old.

Belarusian Sofia Rustamova was only 4 points behind the competition leader. On the first competition day, her score was 66 points, and on the second day, a song in Belarusian brought her the desired maximum of 70 points.
