About 400 artisans are working in the City of Masters at the "Slavianski Bazaar".
On July 12, the "Zadzvinski Kirmaš" (Zadzvinsk Fair) opened at the "Golden Ring of Vitebsk 'Dvina'" cultural and historical complex. Guests and participants of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" art festival refer to it as the City of Masters.
This year, about 400 artisans are presenting their handmade items in Zadvinye. These include crafts made of leather, wood, straw, vine, textiles, glass, beads, wool, and much more. Regular visitors to the City of Masters will find plenty to admire. There are more decorative items for home and garden decoration than ever before. You can find charming figurines, large paintings, seedlings of flowers and trees, outdoor sculptures, and forged items, such as barbecues and fire-resistant metal baskets for bonfires. In short, you can refresh your interior to suit any taste and budget.
Yulia Grafenkova from Mogilev brought 41 interior dolls to the "Slavianski Bazaar." She has only been making such crafts for two years, and her hobby began with an attempt to sew a snowman that could complement a large New Year's tree in her home. "Instead of a snowman, I ended up with a gnome, and I told my daughter, who had asked me to make it, that the decor would be different. Then, an acquaintance saw one of these interior dolls and asked for one. Word of mouth spread quickly among my acquaintances about my hobby, so one day I decided to register as an artisan and make dolls regularly," said the master, who is also a physical education teacher.
Yulia dedicates time to her hobby after work, and she mainly sells her dolls at fairs. Depending on the size and accessories, the cost of her charming creations ranges from Br100 to Br210. The doll "mother" shared that her "boys" and "girls" can serve not only as home decor but also as playmates for children.
Olga Lavitskaya brought her original ceramic figurines from Bobruisk. Cows flying in hot air balloons, cats, and adorable frogs – each character is born from the master's imagination, so you won't find two identical pieces in her collection. The bright colors of her clay "children" will attract visitors to the festival fair for the second time. "This year I brought more items because last year they sold out quite quickly, and I ran out towards the end," said Olga.
Vitebsk resident Ekaterina Martsinkevich decided to add maximum sparkle to the festival by decorating various items with rhinestones. Mugs, ballpoint pens, keychains, phone cases, clothes, and shoes – everything will shine if you entrust your favorite item to the craftswoman. Ekaterina also creates rhinestone portraits, but each takes up to a week, so if someone wishes to take a souvenir that truly sparkles home from the festival, they should contact the craftswoman today.
In Zadvine, you can also find goods from Pakistan, China, and Russia, participate in lotteries and masterclasses, taste unusual delicacies, and generally enjoy the atmosphere of art and creativity.
