Interactive swings, floating fountain. The Park of the 1000th Anniversary of Vitebsk has been opened after reconstruction
The Park of the 1000th Anniversary of Vitebsk, after reconstruction, now features sports, play, and recreation areas for the whole family. The renovated facility was officially opened on the regional center's birthday.
Several residential areas of Vitebsk are adjacent to the Park of the 1000th Anniversary, and it attracts many visitors, especially during the summer heat. People come to sit by the artificial pond, stroll along the paths with strollers, and fishing enthusiasts cast their lines in the quiet evenings. The facility had long been in need of major improvements, and now, by the city's day, the residents of Vitebsk have received a truly precious gift.
A catamaran rental station has been established by the pond, offering leisurely rides accompanied by the ducks and seagulls that frequent the area. In the evenings, a floating fountain will create a special atmosphere with its vibrant illumination.
Children now have a place to have fun, with a spacious, modern playground equipped with slides and swings, as well as a play area featuring outdoor chess and a mini-golf course. Children with disabilities will also be able to enjoy the park, with the installation of special inclusive swings. A winding arch has been set up for couples to take romantic photos. Futuristic interactive swings and benches with illuminated canopies are available for both children and adults to try.
Active recreation enthusiasts will also find plenty of amenities. A multifunctional court for mini-football and streetball, and a workout area – the park's sports facilities are now very robust.
The celebration for the nearby neighborhoods was particularly memorable, thanks in part to the artists who created a festive atmosphere at the opening ceremony. Living statues, costumed characters, and performers from the youth theater "Koleso" walking on stilts delighted both children and adults immensely. An outdoor art session was organized for young artists, where boys and girls drew the city – carousels, fountains, buildings, and fireworks over their native Vitebsk. And the mobile fountain from the rescuers, showering attendees with cool rain, became the most popular attraction on the hot day for visitors to the renovated park.
