Ten mobile FAPs will start operating in the Vitebsk region in early July. This was announced at a press conference by Mikhail Vishnevetsky, Head of the Main Department of Healthcare of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The head of the regional healthcare department noted that earlier at a meeting on current healthcare issues with the head of state, an unsatisfactory assessment of the system's performance was given. "There are real grounds for this. A great deal of public trust has been given to us to promptly address the issues that have not been fully resolved. The issues to be addressed are personnel, the state of the material and technical base of rural institutions, and medical care for the rural population," he explained.
Among the main tasks is the renewal of the material and technical base. The situation on the ground was inspected by groups created at the level of district executive committees. Specialists assessed the base itself, revised approaches, and drew up schedules for improving those FAPs, medical outpatient clinics, and district hospitals that were in unsatisfactory condition or required minor repairs.
"Today, we are very actively engaged in strengthening the material and technical base of фельдшерско-акушерских пунктов (paramedic-midwife stations), of which we have 341. Of these, about 270 require investments ranging from small to major repairs. 38 have already been brought into compliance by the end of May - early June," said Mikhail Vishnevetsky. "Currently, repair work is underway on 78. Rolling schedules have been made, everything has been coordinated with the district executive committees, and funding has been secured. Therefore, we are exercising control, and the executive authorities on the ground are also doing so."
Mobile paramedic and obstetric stations will operate concurrently with existing paramedic and obstetric stations. In the northern region, one mobile paramedic and obstetric station, belonging to the Glubokoye Central District Hospital, has been operational since last year. "Starting July 4, 10 mobile paramedic and obstetric stations will begin operating. Currently, five have been manufactured, and by the end of the month, another five will be produced under contract. Eleven districts will each have one mobile station. These mobile stations will not replace the existing ones but will operate in addition to them. One of the main focuses will be medical examinations, sample collection and result delivery, vaccinations, and on-site specialist consultations, as mobile stations will not operate like regular ones but will additionally have either a general practitioner or a specialist present. The goal is to reach the rural population that is physically unable to travel to the central district hospital or outpatient clinic to receive care," added the head of the regional health department.
The press conference "Healthcare of the Vitebsk Region in an Open Dialogue Format" was held at the regional media center on the eve of Medical Worker's Day, which is celebrated on the third Sunday of June.
