The regional festival "Bulba-Kartoshka-Potatoes" will be held in Vitebsk during the II CIS Games. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The potato festival is planned to be held on August 12 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The venue will be one of the central locations of the regional center - Freedom Square (located almost opposite the Summer Amphitheater, where the competitions of young Muay Thai masters will take place during the Games). All districts and cities of the Vitebsk region have been invited to participate in the gastronomic festival.

National potato dishes will be presented at a special exhibition, and competitions in various nominations will be held during the forum. It is quite possible that not only Belarusian dishes will be presented here. Small summer cafes will be set up on the square so that visitors can taste the delicacies on site.

The Vitebsk Zonal Institute of Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will showcase potatoes in test tubes. This refers to new varieties of this crop.

"The festival will allow us to show our national flavor to guests. We are making it light, tasty, and interesting. A special mascot costume, a logo are being prepared, and craft houses are thinking about souvenir options. A concert program with the participation of Belarusian creative groups is also being worked out, and in the evening - a youth program with a DJ. We are holding such a regional festival for the first time and are making every effort to ensure it is held at a decent level," the department noted. - The forum will be another step in the development of gastronomic tourism. We need to show guests what our region is rich in. After all, not everyone knows that in some district of the Vitebsk region, you can try unique dishes according to special recipes. Gourmets may then travel to this region."

Vitebsk cafes are recommended to revise their menus for August 12 and prioritize potato dishes - this way, city guests will be able to try such delicacies not only on Freedom Square but also anywhere in the regional center.

The II CIS Games will be held in Belarus from August 4 to 14. The northern region will host Muay Thai competitions in Vitebsk and boxing competitions in Orsha.
