The II CIS Games boxing competitions will be held at the Orsha Ice Arena
From August 4 to 14, the II CIS Games will be held in Belarus. Large-scale competitions in twenty sports will take place in all regions of the country. This will allow participants and guests to see Belarus's modern sports infrastructure, including in the regions, and to showcase the country's tourism potential.
The competitions will be hosted by 11 Belarusian cities: Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Vitebsk, Mogilev, Borisov, Zhlobin, Molodechno, Orsha, Soligorsk.
– The main message and the primary goal of the Games are to showcase Belarus as a whole and each region individually in the best possible light, – says Snezhana Bryuzgina, Head of the Sports and Tourism Department of the Orsha District Executive Committee. – It is not enough to hold competitions at a decent level; it is also necessary to demonstrate the country's tourism potential to numerous guests.
In Orsha, at the Ice Arena, boxing competitions will be held with the participation of athletes born in 2005-2006. The bouts are scheduled from August 6 to 12, including the women's and men's finals on August 11 and 12, respectively. The fights will take place in 25 weight categories with the participation of about 250 boxers from 10 countries.
– This sport has been developing very actively in our region in recent years, – Snezhana Vladimirovna continues. – The boxing department at the children and youth sports school has been operating since 2007. It has 12 training groups, where over a hundred athletes are trained. Last year, six individuals were transferred to the higher sports level. Every year, our athletes become prize-winners and winners of republican boxing competitions. We are proud of our trainee Matvey Davydov, who won a silver medal at the European Youth Boxing Championship in Montenegro in 2021. He also returned with a silver medal from the European Junior Boxing Championship in 2019.
In Orsha, for the participants of the Games, in addition to sports competitions, a rich leisure program will be organized: active recreation and a cultural program with visits to significant places in the district – walking, cycling, and bus tours. Spectators can expect exciting bouts with the participation of the best young athletes and numerous leisure locations. Everyone will find something to their liking!
