Getting ready for ice fishing!

With the onset of cold weather, many begin to think about ice fishing, which is not inferior in popularity to open water fishing, and sometimes significantly surpasses it. Winter fishing attracts with the accessibility of any part of a body of water or watercourse. However, ice and snow cover reliably hide the underwater world from the fisherman's eyes, and to find fish, he has to work hard: sometimes walk more than one kilometer and drill dozens of holes.

There are four main methods of ice fishing: with a float rod, with a jig, vertical jigging, and fishing with tip-ups. Tip-ups and "kruzhki" (a type of float fishing gear) are so-called live bait tackle for catching predatory fish species: perch, burbot, pike, zander. They are very popular among anglers, as they are quite productive and frequently used.

Please note! Amateur fishing regulations prohibit fishing using "kruzhki", tip-ups, "stavki", "kolobashki", and other similar systems and equipment during dark hours.

When ice fishing, do not forget about safety measures. It is considered safe to go on the ice if its thickness reaches at least 5 cm. The condition of the ice also matters, as its strength depends on water and air temperature. Sometimes 5 cm may not be enough – for example, if a thaw has occurred after the ice has formed, or if there is shallow water with algae under the ice.
