Hunting for beavers and otters has opened since September 1st

Hunting for beaver and otter is open from September 1, 2024, and will continue until March 31, 2025. Hunting for beaver and otter is permitted by firearm from ambush, by stalking, by approaching from small vessels, at burrows, as well as without firearms at burrows, using traps or snares (excluding loops).

As hunting implements, it is permitted to use rifled hunting weapons with a muzzle energy of the bullet exceeding 1500 joules, smooth-bore weapons with the use of cartridges loaded with bullets or buckshot, hunting bows and crossbows, when hunting by approaching - small vessels without an engine or with an inoperative engine, hunting dogs (excluding hounds and sighthounds), traps and snares (excluding loops).
Hunting for beaver and otter is permitted both during daylight and at night. However, it should be noted that when hunting without firearms with traps or snares, their installation (removal), inspection, setting, and extraction of harvested animals are allowed only during daylight hours. Hunting for beaver and otter by firearm or without firearms at burrows, as well as hunting by firearm by approaching from small vessels, are permitted only during daylight hours.
We draw the special attention of hunters to the fact that hunting beaver and otter by firearm at night is permitted by methods of ambush, stalking, and only with single-use hunting permits (valid for no more than 24 hours), as well as with the mandatory appointment and presence of a hunting supervisor.
During the process of hunting beaver and otter without firearms, it is permitted to harvest American mink and muskrat that accidentally fall into traps or other snares set for beaver and otter. In this case, the hunter must indicate the species of animal (American mink or muskrat) and the date of harvest for each accidentally harvested animal on the reverse side of the hunting permit before extracting it from the trap or snare.
If a hunter discovers another regulated species of hunting animal or a wild animal belonging to a species included in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus in a trap (snare) set by them for beaver or otter, the hunter, without removing the animal from the trap or other snare, must inform an official of the hunting grounds user about it.
Illegal hunting of beaver or otter entails administrative or criminal liability.
