On the self-procurement and purchase of firewood by the population
In accordance with Article 44 of the Forest Code of the Republic of Belarus, timber harvesting in forest fund areas by citizens is carried out for a fee based on an order. According to Article 39 of the Forest Code of the Republic of Belarus, an order (not exceeding 50 cubic meters) for all types of logging is issued by the forestry.
Citizens wishing to obtain a forest fund area for self-harvesting firewood based on an order shall submit a written application to the forestry responsible for the requested forest fund area.
The forestry shall review the application and attached documents within the timeframes established by the legislation on administrative procedures and, in the absence of grounds for refusal to grant the forest fund area for forest use, shall grant the forest fund area by issuing an order to the applicant after they have paid the fee for forest use.
The basis for citizens to transport harvested timber is an order for the small-scale sale of standing timber.
In case of logging of woody and shrubby vegetation without permits, an individual shall be held liable under Article 16.17 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses.
In addition to self-harvesting firewood, citizens can purchase ready-made firewood available at forestry enterprises. The cost will depend on the type of wood and delivery conditions (own transport or enterprise transport services).
For questions regarding the purchase (acquisition and delivery) and self-harvesting of firewood, please contact one of the nearest forestry enterprises to your place of residence for detailed information.
