The Verkhnedvinsk District Executive Committee has joined the international initiative – the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.

Within the framework of this European Union initiative, local authorities (cities and districts) undertake voluntary commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 30% by 2030 within their territories.

The main goal of the initiative is sustainable energy development at the local level and the adoption of measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change. More than 7,000 cities and districts in various countries have signed the Covenant.
