Gaming Addiction: An Invisible Threat to Well-being In the Republic of Belarus, there is growing concern about the spread of gaming addiction, which destroys the lives of thousands of people. Key risks of gaming addiction include: - financial bankruptcy - addicted individuals lose their savings, take out loans, and fall into debt traps; - destruction of families – conflicts, divorces, and loss of trust from loved ones become a frequent outcome of pathological gambling; - mental disorders – anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts are diagnosed in every second patient with gambling addiction; - social isolation – addicted individuals lose their jobs, friends, and connections with society. Gaming addiction is not a weakness of character, but a serious illness that requires professional help. The sooner a person seeks help from specialists, the higher the chances of recovery. Gambling addiction is treatable; the important thing is to take the first step – ask for help. On the Ministry of Taxes and Levies website, in the "Gambling Business" section, under the "Information for Individuals" tab, there is an internet link that allows you to go to the website of the State Institution "Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health" and anonymously take a test to identify gambling addiction, "Test to determine the level of gambling addiction," as well as a list of state healthcare organizations of the Republic of Belarus that provide specialized narcological assistance to individuals suffering from pathological gambling urges. One of the tasks of the tax authorities remains the identification and suppression of facts of "envelope" wage payments. Thus, during an inspection of an organization providing hairdressing and beauty salon services, it was established that revenue from the sale of goods (services) was concealed by accepting cash without using cash registers and without reflecting it in accounting (tax) records, with the aim of understating the tax base for the simplified tax system and being the source of wage payments to the organization's employees, as well as to citizens not officially employed by the organization without reflecting it in the records, in order to evade the obligations of a tax agent for calculating, withholding, and transferring personal income tax amounts. Based on Article 33 of the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus, the inspection adjusted the tax base for the simplified tax system upwards, and also increased the tax base for personal income tax from individuals, including as a result of wage payments to the company's employees without reflecting them in the records and due to officials receiving income in the form of cash accepted without the use of cash registers.
And non-reflection in the accounting records of the Organization. Based on the results of the inspection, a total of 24.2 thousand rubles were additionally charged, including income tax of 15.3 thousand rubles. The inspection draws attention to the fact that in accordance with the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus, when facts of evasion of personal income tax are established by paying income in the form of wages "in envelopes" without reflection in accounting records and reporting, the tax is recovered exclusively from the funds of the tax agent (without subsequent withholding from the individual who actually received the income). Information about the facts of paying wages "in envelopes" can be provided by calling 189 or by written notification to the tax authority at the place of registration. Also, the Ministry of Taxes and Duties Inspectorate for Novopolotsk reminds that for violation of legislation regarding the payment of wages not reflected in accounting, administrative liability is provided in accordance with Articles 14.3, 14.5 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses. And non-payment of taxes in the amount of more than 2000 base units may entail criminal liability. L.S.
