The economy of Verkhnedvinsk district is characterized by its multifaceted nature.

The main components of the district's economy include agricultural organizations, industrial enterprises, trade and public catering facilities, small businesses, and others.

The agro-industrial complex plays a leading role in the district's economy (over 80% of the district's production potential). Agriculture specializes in dairy and beef cattle breeding, pork production, as well as the cultivation of legumes, oilseeds, and grain crops.

The district's industry is represented by five major enterprises: OJSC "Verkhnedvinsk Dairy and Cheese Factory" - the largest producer and exporter of cheeses, up "Verkhniy Lug" (production of soft cheeses, cottage cheese), OJSC "Invet" - production of plastic products, OJSC "Verkhnedvinsk Flax Mill" and Verkhnedvinsk Housing and Communal Services Group.

Industrial enterprises of the district produce cheese and dairy products, plastic products and textile products, carry out processing of flax straw and wood. Industrial enterprises are concentrated in 2 centers of economic growth - in the town of Verkhnedvinsk with adjacent territories and in the agro-town of Bigosovo.

Trade services for the population of Verkhnedvinsk district are provided by the Verkhnedvinsk branch of the Vitebsk Regional Consumer Society and a number of other entities, including retail outlets of republican network representatives. Services to the population are provided through retail outlets of various formats, a market, mobile shops and online stores.

Catering services are provided by both the Verkhnedvinsk branch of the Vitebsk Regional Consumer Society and other business entities, including private businesses.

On the territory of the district there are the tourist complex "Krasny Bor", the "Verkhnedvinsk Interdistrict Organizational Structure" of the RGOO "Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen" and the institution "Zrz "Osvyeysky", which have significant potential for the development of hunting and ecological tourism and offer a wide range of services.
